Campaign Toolkit for Campuses
The Drive Safe. Drive Smart. campaign is a statewide driving safety campaign aimed at educating Missouri’s college students on the dangers of drowsy driving, inattentive driving, aggressive driving and speeding, and drinking and driving. The campaign has two parts:
- Drive Safe. Drive Smart. educational campaign
- Battle of the Belts – a seatbelt use competition among the twelve PIP campuses
Drive Safe. Drive Smart. Educational Campaign
This campaign includes an educational campaign for students as well as some media education about the important issues related to safe driving. We know that most of Missouri’s college students make safe and smart choices about driving, but we want to continue to encourage those good decisions through this important campaign.
When will the campaign begin?
The campaign, which may kick off on some campuses with educational events as early as the beginning of classes in August, will officially kick-off the year with an educational blitz on each of the campuses beginning the week of September 17.
How do I implement the campaign?
- During the week previous to your events, fill in the appropriate information on the press release and send it out to the media contacts listed in the directory. (While we accuracy-checked the names and contact information for local media outlets, information we have provided for media contacts may outdated).
- Post educational posters up on campus
- Hold events/information tables on your campus.
- After you hold your events, fill out the program evaluation and fax to Partners in Prevention at 573-882-1751.
How do I involve the media?
Use this ready-made press release to submit to your local media about specific events related to the campaign. Please fill in the necessary information, print it on your letterhead, and use this directory to get contact information for your media outlets.
